15th Queer Palm Selection

May 15 Update: post becomes final with the Short Films selection with four short films only.

---///--- May 9 Update: Film list was publish today and now list below has become official for feature films. As usual imagine list could include more (or Less) films as films become available.  Also believe there could be a list of short films and perhaps also documentaries that probably will be released soon.

Not many news about the Queer Palm selection and only when more film info is revealed by the Cannes film festival official organizers is when the group will publish the selection. Meanwhile here are some news.

The 2025 edition of the Cannes LGBT+ award is the 15th and will not deny that still remember when the award was announced for the first time 15 years ago. It wasn't easy for award organizers to get to where they are now, but perseverance and tolerance has made this award to not only survive but thrive.

The Poster

2025 poster is crafted by acclaimed French artist and photographer Marie Rouge known for her evocative imagery that blends cinematic aesthetics with emotional depth. The photo story is as follows.

It was in 2020, 50 years after Stonewall riots and the first Pride. It was also the year of Covid and endless lockdowns. Not just any march, therefore. A powerful symbol, full of determination and anger. Commissioned by Libération, I was thrilled to be reunited with my people, and the headline in the paper said 'We're here to scream that we want rights'. Marie Rouge.

Undoubtedly the highly topical photo, message behind and poster bring a fresh yet timeless perspective to the festival's visual identity and to the award this year.

News

This milestone edition has none other than Christophe Honoré as Jury President, these are his words.
The Queer Palm is fifteen years old, and I have gladly agree to chair its jury: Fifteen is the age when we hope for everything, fear everything and are ready to fight against everything.

At a time when contemporary creation is once again under attack from the International Reactionary, it seems more urgent to highlight and celebrate queer films.
Being a filmmaker, belonging to a sexual minority, and upholding the truth of one's desires in one's films is a reckless sincerity that always weakens one. Hence the importance of the Queer Palm at the heart of the Cannes Film Festival; it is both a refuge and a platform, a struggle and a tenderness
.

The Queer Palm was created in 2010 by French journalist Franck Finance-Madureira and annually rewards a feature film and a short film from the Cannes selections.

I started to include some films that I believe have LGBT+ stories and tried to avoid those with only LGBT+ characters; but list will be final when organizers publish their official list.

The 2025 Queer Palm ceremony will take place on Friday, May 23 in Cannes.
