2026 BAFTA Awards

A few minutes ago actors Aimee Lou Wood and David Jonsson announced the nominations via a live broadcast from Bafta 195 Piccadilly and One Battle After Another leads with 14 nominations followed closely by Sinners with 13, Hamnet and Marty Supreme with 11, and with 8 nominations Frankenstein and Sentimental Value.

First time nominees in the performance categories who have received their first Bafta Film nomination are; Robert Aramayo, Odessa A’zion, Rose Byrne, Chase Infiniti, Michael B. Jordan, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Stellan Skarsgård, and Teyana Taylor. Six former and current EE Rising Stars are nominated – Robert Aramayo, Jessie Buckley, Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, Chase Infiniti and Carey Mulligan.

In the Best Director category, two of the six directors are first-time nominees – Ryan Coogler and Josh Safdie. Three Bafta Breakthroughs are nominated: Jessie Buckley, Akinola Davies Jr. and Chase Infiniti. Last but not least, Hament directed by Chloe Zhao, has broken the record for the most nominations for a female-directed film in Bafta history, with 11.

Bafta represents one of the world’s largest film industry voting bodies, comprising 8,300 creative practitioners from all corners of the UK and global film industry.

Round Three voting opens on Wednesday 28 January until Tuesday 17 February 2026, and will determine the Winners, to be announced at the EE Bafta Films Awards on Sunday 22 February on BBC One and iPlayer and @BAFTA. Unfortunately televised show has 1 hour delay; so, thanks to social media will know winners before watching the show.  Sigh!
