35th Annual Gotham Film Awards Nominations

The American Awards Season starts with with these nominations that represent 40 feature films and 25 perfromances in ten award categories. New this year, the Best Feature category is expanded to include 10 nominees, up from five.

Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another becomes a front runner for current award season as leads the pack with six (6) nominations, even when, surprise, surprise, Leonardo DiCaprio gets snubbed in the top acting category. (LOL) Mary Bronstein's If I Had Legs I'd Kick You follows with four (4) nominations, Jafar Panahi's It Was Just An Accident and Park Chan-wook No Other Choice with three (3) each.

Nominees were selected by committees of film critics, journalists, festival programmers and film curators. Separate juries of writers, directors, actors, producers, editors and other industry professionals will determine the winners. Awards ceremony will be on December 1st at Cipriani Wall Street.

Tributes
The Gothams Tributes are the organization’s highest honors celebrating outstanding achievement in film. The Tributes recognize the industry’s most accomplished creators and performers whose work has made an indelible impact on both the art form and popular culture.

Noah Baumbach will receive the Director Tribute for his work on Jay Kelly.
Tessa Thompson is being honored with the Spotlight Tribute for Hedda.
Frankenstein‘s Guillermo del Toro, Oscar Isaac, and Jacob Elordi will receive the Vanguard Tribute.
Cast of Sinners will receive the Ensemble Tribute.

Among the many surprises there are two that call my attention; first, Sentimental Value actors getting nods while actress, movie and director got snubbed and second,  Oliver Laxe got a nomination!
