56th San Sebastian International Film Festival News

Recently the fest announced the films participating in the section Films in Progress 14 and here they are.

El Árbol, Carlos Serrano Azcona, Mexico
Ártico, Santiago Loza, Argentina
Ilusiones Ópticas, Cristian Jiménez, Chile, Portugal and France
La Nana, Sebastián Silva, Chile
Norteado, Rigoberto Perezcano, Mexico
La Yuma, Florencia Jaugey, Nicaragua and Mexico

To read more information about the section and the films go here.

What really interested me is learning that the Carlos Serrano's film is produced by none other than Carlos Reygadas! Also producing are Jaime Rosales and Jaime Romandia’s Mantarraya Producciones. If you want to read basic info about this film that’s already in post-production check the Mantarraya site here.

On other news, the fest announced that The Other Man by Richard Eyre will open the festival and The Brothers Bloom by Rian Johnson will close it.

Also the fifteen films that will be screened in the Made In Spain section were announced and if you want to check them please go here.

The 56th edition of the Classic Retrospective is dedicated to Mario Monicelli and will screen 41 feature films and two shorts. To read about this section go here.

Last, the Contemporary Retrospective this year is about British Terence Davies and to check the information go here.
