35th Telluride Film Festival Lineup

This is one of the most prestigious festivals in America, so it is not a surprise that its site announces that “All Passes Sold Out! The Box Office is Closed!”. But this fest that runs from August 20 to September 1st, still has full price tickets, so do not despair if you wish to go to the mountains!

In their official site they do not have the films they will screen, they say that’s “a secret” to be revealed when you reach the fest secluded location. So much mystery, isn’t it?

Still today the secret is out thanks to Variety and here are the films they probably will screen.

American Violet, Tim Disney, USA, 2008
Ein Leben für ein Leben (Adam Resurrected), Paul Schrader, Germany and Israel, 2008
Firaaq, Nandita Das, India, 2008
Flammen & Citronen (Flame & Citron), Ole Christian Madsen, Denmark, 2008
Gomorra (Gomorrah), Matteo Garone, Italy, 2008
Happy-Go-Lucky, Mike Leigh, UK, 2008
Helen, Christine Molloy and Joe Lawlor, UK, 2008
Hunger, Steve McQueen, UK, 2008
Il y a longtemps que je t'aime (I’ve Loved You So Long), Philippe Claudel, France, 2008
Joheunnom nabbeunnom isanghannom (The Good, The Bad and The Weird), Kim Ji-Woon, South Korea, 2008
Kisses, Lance Daly, Ireland, 2008
Learning Gravity, Cathal Black, USA, 2008
Maria Larssons Eviga Ögonblick (Everlasting Moments), Jan Troell, Sweden, 2008
O’Horten, Bent Hamer, Norway, 2008
Pirate For The Sea, Ron Colby, UK, 2007
Rastul e Tacere (The Rest is Silence), Nae Caranfil, Romania, 2007
Revanche, Götz Spielman, Austria, 2008
Soukromé století - král Velichovek, Tatíček a Lili Marlén (Private Century), Jan Sikl, Czech Republic, 2007 (eight documentary films using amateur footage from private family archives… hmm, could be interesting)
Tulpan, Sergei Dvortesovoy, Kazakhstan, 2008
Vals im Bashir (Waltz With Bashir), Ari Folman, Israel, 2008
Aide-toi et le ciel t'aidera (With a Little Help From Myself), François Dupeyron, France, 2008
Youssou N’Dour:I Bring What I Love, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Senegal and France, 2008

As you can see most of the movies have been around in other international festivals, but there are a few that are new to the blog.

If you feel like looking the official fest site go here but there is not much information about anything else, except the special events and one seminar that called my attention is named: Is There a Woman Behind Every Good Movie? (Of course! lol!) but probably is from last year’s fest. The Guest Director this year is Slovenian-born Slavoj Zizek.

There are two movies that I really want to watch in here, Philipe Claudel Il y a longtemps que je t'aime and the Romanian movie.
