#Venezia83 Rumors
June is about to end and there are not many official news from organizers of the 2026 Venice International Film Festival; but, buzz is starting to go on high gear with possible films that will make #Venice83 competition and any other official or parallel section of the festival. Still, strangely enough, the full #Venice83 Competition jury has been announced before anything else and later, the Pre-Opening film.
But first lets start with some festival key dates.
June 4 was deadline for feature-length films late submission
July 13 - Press conference - lineup announcement
September 2 - Opening Ceremony
September 12 - Awards Ceremony
Followed by a rapid reminder about the festival sections according to festival's 2026 brochure. According to last year's brochure and current brochure there are some changes; Out of Competition section has 10 more films, from 20 to 30, and Venezia Spotlight has 2 less, from 10 to 8.
Venezia 83 - up to 21 feature films presented as World Premieres
Out of Competition - a maximum of 30 titles plus films produced as part of the Biennale College Cinema program as world premieres
Orizzonti- up to 19 feature films and a selection of short films
Venezia Spotlight - maximum of 8 world premiere films
Venezia Classici - up to 18 restorations of classic films
Venice Immersive - up to 30 immersive projects
Settimana Internazinale della Critica - Up to 9 debut films
Giornate degli Autori - Up to 12 films
As we know American studios stayed out of Cannes this year so many are expecting them to show in La Mostra; but, early industry pundits predictions are showing fewer Hollywood projects that some were expecting. For example, already known facts, The Odyssey by Christopher Nolan and The Dog Stars by Ridley Scott will not be in the festival as theatrical release for both films is before festival opening date.
The list is made from industry articles about what to expect in Venice fest, industry pundits wishlist, production companies and cinema institutions production lists. Tried to put special enphasis on Italian films as imagine La Mostra has to have a significan amount of made in Italy films.
The List (of films we will be able to see ... eventually) This list could be modified with new additions as soon as buzz is high enough to include it here.
