73rd Annual MPSE Golden Reel Award Winners

Update March 9. Last night the MPSE had their award ceremony and Sinners lead with 2 wins out of 3 nominations. Other winners include Frankenstein, Zootopia 2 and Sirât.

Oscars Sound category favorite until this award was F1; but, as the Academy merged editing and mixed into one category, now there is a race between Sinners that won Editing Dialogue and Frankenstein that won Effects/Foley. Still with Academy voting members anything could happen and F1, Sirât, plus One Battle After Another could still be in the race.

Yesterday, January 12, the Motion Picture Sound Editors announced the nominations for the current year awards and One Battle After Another and Sinners lead with 3 nominations.

Let's recall that nominees represent the work of the world's most talented sound artists and their contribution to the past year's most outstanding feature film, television, animation, and computer entertainment productions.

The MPSE Golden Reel Awards recognize outstanding achievement in sound editing in 24 categories encompassing feature films, television, animation, computer entertainment and student work; and covers the various areas of sound editing: Dialogue, ADR, Effects, Foley and Music.

The Career Achievement Award is presented to a person whose career has made a significant impact on the sound community through exemplary work, service, or leadership. Supervising Sound Editor Mark Mangini will receive the MPSE Career Achievement Award current year.

The Filmmaker's Award is bestowed upon an individual outside the sound community whose career has demonstrated a great appreciation and understanding of the impact of sound editing. Kathleen Kennedy will be honored this year with the MPSE Filmmaker Award.

Winners will be announced at the annual gala on March 8, 2026 at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles.
