35th European Film Awards Nominations

As this year there are many great European movies being considered for an European Film Awards nomination decided to return to list EFA's nominations for 2022 awards edition.

The following awards had been already announced.

Lifetime Achievement Award for Outstanding Body of Work to Margarethe Von Trotta
European Innovative Storytelling Award to Marco Bellocchio
European Achievement in World Cinema Award to Elia Suleiman

The Awards ceremony will take place on December 10, 2022 in Reykjavik, Iceland and will be streamed live at awards official site here.

The awarding procedure is a three-stage process. After the announcement of the shortlisted feature and documentary films, the 4,400 members of the European Film Academy have watched the selections and voted on the nominations in the feature film categories European Film, Director, Actress, Actor, Screenwriter, as well as for the nominations in the category European Documentary. The nominations in the categories of European Comedy, Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI, Animated Feature Film and Short Film have been selected by nomination committees consisting of a diverse range of invited European experts.

Now the members of the European Film Academy will vote for the winners who will be announced at the European Film Awards ceremony on December10, 2022.

The winners of the Excellence Awards in the categories European Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Costume Design, Make-Up & Hair, Original Score, Sound and Visual Effects will be determined by an eight-member jury consisting of representatives of the different arts and crafts and will be announced on November 23, 2022. The award winners of the European Lifetime Achievement, the European Achievement in World Cinema and the European Innovative Storytelling have already been announced and will be honored in Reykjavík.

As mentioned before, I believe this year there are many outstanding European films and below list proves how remarkable the 2022 film production was among the many European countries. So, this year is more about the snubbed that about those that got a nomination.

Just a quick look at this year's European submissions to #Oscars2023 and we find the absence of films by Aida Begić, Edward Berger, Colm Bairéad, Emir Baigazin, Laurynas Bareiša to mention a few and perhaps due to release date also remarkable is the absence of Cristian Mungiu latest film. Surprised Belfats didn't get more nominations as well as one film that absolutely calls my attention for breath-taking images, Godland which only got one for lead actor.
