2025 Film Critics Awards - In Progress

Today is a good day to start the annual film critics awards compilation as even do critics groups start to announce their awards in December there is some information regarding awards. Also, there is the annual task of learning which groups are still alive, which are not, and welcome the new ones to the list.

As you recall this post is done to get an idea of what film critics are liking and the possible Oscar nominations/winners. But remember that by trade, film critics are NOT Academy members and consequently cannot vote in the Oscars. Still, they are influencers by trade especially those in the largest groups New York Film Critics Circle and Los Angeles Film Critics Association as well as those with in groups with high reputation like the National Board of Review.

Post works as mainly American film critics preferences tally for the current award season. Furthermore, usually film critics' winners data is different to what audiences like and nowadays less and less similar to what AMPAS members prefer.

While each group has its own identity, region of influence and taste profile, four of them are considered to be part of the so-called "Big Four" critics' awards: NYFCC, NBR, NSFC, and LAFCA; so their preferences are listed in the first section that also includes preferences by the International critics' organization FIPRESCI, the most famous cinema magazine Cahiers du Cinema, and two critics groups American Critics' Choice and international Golden Globes.

There are links to full list of nominations and winners for most groups official sites and will add announcements dates when and if they're announced/available.

Post will be in progress until the last group announces its winners which usually happens by the third week of January next year; but, nowadays, some groups announce really late almost near to Oscar awards ceremony.
