2007 Village Voice/ LA Weekly Poll

One of the few publications that I still enjoy to read is the Village Voice and yesterday they had their “almost-traditional” Village Voice poll of alternative press film critics and other critics. This year the two publications joined forces and produced one list after last year terrible list produced by LA Weekly. So they polled 102 critics and here are some of the results that well are not similar to other lists or winners.

Best Movie: There Will Be Blood
Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, There Will Be Blood
Best Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem, No Country for Old Men
Best Actress: Anamaria Marinca, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
Best Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett, I’m Not There
Best First Film: Away from Her
Worst Film: (tie) Southland Tales and The Bucket List
Best Undistributed Film: Secret Sunshine, Lee Chang-dong

Most of the lists are really eclectic but some like the worst film is quite fun to read. If you want to check all the movies listed go here.

So, this is for today. I really had lots of fun reading about movies, festivals, awards and gossip. No, I did not post everything here, just a selection that I hope you enjoy.
