48th International Thessaloniki Film Festival Award Winners


The festival was held from November 16 to 25th in Athens, Greece and here are the winners.

Golden Alexander for Best Feature Film: Hongse Kanbaiyin (The Red Awn), Shangjun Cai, China
Silver Alexander Special Jury Award: PVC-1, Spiros Stathoulopoulos, Colombia, Greece and USA
Best Director: Veiko Ounpuu for Sügisball (Autumn Ball), Estonia
Best Screeplay: Thanos Anastopoulos and Vassilis Raissis for Diorhosi (Correction), Thanos Anastopoulos, Greece
Best Actress: Anna Lalasidou for Elli Makra-42277 Wuppertal, Athanasios Karanikolas, Germany
Best Actor: Alberto Sornoza for PVC-1, Spiros Strathoulopoulos, Colombia, Greece and USA
Artistic Achievement Award: Jonas Cuaron for Año Uña (The Year of the Nail), Mexico

I really like Greek cinema, but it is so hard to find the good movies; I’m sure that here there are many that will be delightful to see. I'm very curious about PVC-1 since it was screened at the 2007 Cannes Directors' Fortnight, this is the one with the one continuous take...
