46th International Critics’ Week


Another parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival is the SIC or Semaine Internationale de la Critique and this year Gael Garcia Bernal has been honored by naming him their official Ambassador and they will be screening his first movie as a director Déficit (Mexico) that is also participating for the Camera D'Or Award.

The following 7 feature films are the selection in competition for the Grand Prix.

All these films also participate in La Camera d’Or (except A Via Lactea and Ezra), the Regards Jeunes Prize (given also to films in the Directors’ Fortnight) and the Grand Rail d’Or.

Other prizes awarded are SACD Prize to the best screenwriter among the feature films of the Selection; the ACID Support Award given to the French distributor of the awarded film, the CCAS Award to the director of the awarded film, and the Very Young Critic OFAJ Award given by 32 French and German young critic high school students to the best feature film.

The FIPRESCI Revelation of the year was awarded to Yo (Me) by Rafa Cortez, Spain and represents the chosen film out of first of second films awarded by the Federation during the previous year it will be also screened here.

Like good critics they are, their site is truly unimpressive so I will not post their link. Also maybe because the synopsis are written by critcs, none called my attention!

If you were thinking that we were finished with Cannes perhaps by now you will realize that this is the most grandiose film festival of all festivals. So many things happening, do you agree?
