6th Tribeca Film Festival

On April 25 with the screening of Curtis Hanson’s Lucky You in the Opening Night this festival started in New York City. The Closing Night will premiere Antonio Ferrera’s The Gates on May 5th. Most of the films are in other festivals, but if you feel like browsing the site the link is here.

By the way, The Gates is an HBO documentary film that celebrates New York and is about the following:

“In 1979, artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude proposed one of the largest public art installations in history: a “golden river” of 7,500 fabric-paneled gates in Central Park. Transcending controversy, it was finally completed in 2005. Antonio Ferrera and Albert Maysles’ film chronicles the artists’ 26-year commitment to transform the winter darkness of the park into a garden of light and color.”

I know that my photographer friend will love to watch this documentary so I let him know that HBO will be presenting this film in February 2008 to commemorate the anniversary of the project’s launch in New York City.
