Yesterday, December 9, the Golden Globes LLC presided by Helen Hoehne announced the nominations for the 2026 edition of the once controversial Golden Globes. The announcement was presented by Marlon Wayans and Skye P. Marshall at a press conference at the Beverly Hilton with top categories airing at morning news while rest of categories were unveiled via live streaming only. In the past this award had many eyebrow-raising inclusions as well as genre assignation for some films that clearly are not comedy; but as the voters have become more international and organizers are trying to become respectable -again-, current edition seems a step forward into the right direction. Still, there are some nominations that clearly are trying to bring more glamour to the televised show than given because merit for remarkable performance.
Leading is One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Andersen with 9 nominations followed by Sentimental Value with 8, Sinners with 7, Hamnet with 6 and Wicked: For Good with 5. But perhaps what has been most interesting reading is about some American film journalists writting about how much love voters are giving to foreign-language films. Well, yes we know, non-American cinema is absolutedly great and perhaps -if trend continue- this awards could become more about international cinema. Still, there are too-many American nominations for my taste (LOL).
The Golden Globes show will air on Sunday, January 11 at 8:00pm ET on CBS and will stream on Paramount+ and strongly suggest you prepare for this year red carpet as where else can you watch Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Emily Blunt, Renate Reinsve, Julia Roberts, Jessie Buckley, Kate Hudson, Ariana Grande, Amanda Seyfried,, Cynthia Erivo, Dawyne Jonhson, Jeremy Allen White, Timothee Chalament, George Cloney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ethan Hawke, Jacob Elordi, Adam Samdler, and so many more ALL together in one place! We have to remember this group also honors TV, so the list of actors increments to include Claire Danes, Michelle Williams, Kristen Bell, Selena Gomez, Jenna Ortega, Jean Smart, Ayo Edebiri, Parker Posey, Carrie Coon, Rashida Jones, Robin Wright, Glen Powell, Adam Brody, Jude Law, Billy Crudup and more. See, this is a TV show with the most A-listers and film celebrities in world (LOL).
