More (Irrelevant) Cannes News

One of the things that I look forward to watch from Cannes is the incredible large amount of videos with Aishwarya that will populate the net even if this year she’s attending only with her L’Oreal ambassador hat and will stay there only for a few days as she has to go back to resume shooting the film Instant Reply.

But this year one of the Indian movies that will be promoted in the fest market is Kites starring Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori (yes that Barbara!) and the really funny story behind the movie (this is gossip) is that both became involved while filming. You really have to read the many quite funny-to-read stories that populate the net about this romance, as they are really hilarious! Then have to say that all the buzz made me want to watch the movie, so there you have it, gossip creates demand!!!

There are more irrelevant news like the actors and filmmakers that will come to Cannes and perhaps we will see in today’s red carpet. For starters we will surely see Charles Aznavour as he is the main voice in the French version of Up, which we know is the opening film. Perhaps today, if not later in the fest, we will see Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell as they will be promoting the Imaginarium film. Obviously Monica Bellucci will be there with her husband Vincent Cassel as both have films to promote. Most awaited is to see Fanny Ardant promoting her debut film and well, we will have Pedro Almodovar and Penelope Cruz. So, if you enjoy watching “Stars” the fest will allow you to see quite many from Hollywood, yes Brad Pitt and Angelina will be there, and more interesting from Europe and Asia.

On the serious side of the news, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has opened the youtube site with this year short films competition where all of us can vote for the winner, so when you find time check the shorts @ Youtube and for more information check the NFB site here. If you just want to watch the shorts here is the playlist with all of them.
