13th Annual Satellite Award Winners

I have been reading comments about these awards and most criticize that the award winners do not match the Academy Award winners; this has also been said about the Golden Globes. I really do not understand why people think that all awards have to become predictors for the Oscars. I believe that each award has to have their own “personality” and has to recognize whatever the voting members believes is worth to honor.

Anyway last night they had the award ceremony and here are the winners for some categories.

Motion Picture – Drama: Slumdog Millionaire
Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical: Happy-Go-Lucky
Motion Picture – Foreign Language Film: Gomorrah, Italy
Motion Picture – Animated or Mixed Media: WALL-E

Director: Danny Boyle for Slumdog Millionaire

Actress – Drama: Angelina Jolie in Changeling
Actress – Comedy or Musical: Sally Hawkins in Happy-Go-Lucky
Actress – Supporting Role: Rosemarie DeWitt in Rachel Getting Married

Actor – Drama: Richard Jenkins in The Visitor
Actor – Comedy or Musical: Ricky Gervais in Ghost Town
Actor – Supporting Role: Michael Shannon in Revolutionary Road

Haven’t seen Slumdog Millionaire and other movies, but definitively agree with the awards given to Ricky Gervais (lol!), Richard Jenkins and Happy-Go-Lucky.
