66th Golden Globes Awards News - Update


I have been looking around for the long list of foreign films that qualified for the Golden Globes but haven’t found it yet. Still, yesterday Variety reported that there are 53 films with France claiming 14 slots and Italy four. From the article we can identify the following movies.

As I was writting this post the HFPA had two press releases, here is an excerpt from the first.

HOLLYWOOD, CA, December 3, 2008 – 184 live-action feature films (113 drama and 71 comedies or musicals), 8 animated feature films, 109 television series (67 drama and 42 comedies), 38 mini-series or telefilms and 53 foreign language films have been qualified for “The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards” consideration honoring 2008 achievements, it was announced today by Jorge Camara, President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. In addition, 49 songs are eligible for the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture.

HOLLYWOOD, CA, December 3, 2008 – Elizabeth Banks, Terrence Howard and Rainn Wilson will join Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara to announce the Nominations for “The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards” on Thursday morning, December 11, 2008 at The Beverly Hilton. Nominations will be announced in 25 categories.

Timetable for the 2009 Awards

December 11, 2008 – Nomination announcement at 5:00am PT
January 7, 2009 – Live telecast on NBC at 8pm
