19 Hamburg International Lesbian and Gay Film Festival

This festival really has very good news as will have premieres of movies that I have been patiently waiting to see at least in the festival circuit. The fest will run from October 21 to 26 and here are some of the films.

I Can’t Think Straight, Shamim Sarif, UK and South Africa, 2008
Mein Freund Aus Faro (To Faro), Nana Neul, Germany, 2008
Hua Chi Liao Na Nu Hai (Candy Rain), Hung-i Chen, Taiwan, 2008

Chuecatown, Juan Flahn, Spain, 2007 (This gay interest movie seems very funny and has one of the funny actors from Los Hombres de Paco). This is the opening film of the fest and none other than Monika Treut will be hosting the opening gala.

Have to say that this is the first fest that has a program that’s almost half lesbian and half gay, so if you live nearby I strongly suggest to not miss it. If you want to read all the films, documentaries and short please go here there are many other known to the blog lesbian interest films in this fest.

At the end of the fest the following awards will be given.

The URSULA is the prize for the best short film. She is awarded in three categories: best Gay, Lesbian and Transgender short.
The EUROLA is our award for best European feature.
The GLOBOLA goes to the best non-European feature.
The DOKULA is awarded to the best feature-length documentary.
"Made in Germany" is the competition for German-made shorts.

My German is very poor, but there is a reduced English section that you can browse here and I suggest you download the fest catalogue that has brief descriptions of all the films in English. Also you can check information for each film here.
