Perhaps some of you have noticed the presence of more and more films from Kazakhstan in many fests around the world. If you have noticed as I have then is no surprise that recently Variety reported that is the healthiest film market in the region.Anyway this fest run from September 7 to 13 in Astana and here are the award winners.
Grand Prix for Best Film: Farewell, Gulsary!, Ardak Amirkulov, Kazakhstan,
Special Jury Prize: Unknown Route, Temir Birnazarov, Kyrgyzstan, 2008
Prize for Best Director: Adilkhan Yerzhanov for Bakhytzhamal, Kazakhstan, 2007 (short)
Best Lead Actor: Dias Rakhmatov for Small People, Khatam Faiziev, Uzbekistan, 2007 and Balkhytzhan Alpeisov for Together with The Father, Daniyar Salamat, Kazahstan, 2008
Best Lead Actress: Irina Ageikina for Song of Southern Seas, Marat Sarulu, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, France and Russia, 2008
