5th Eurasia International Film Festival Award Winners

Perhaps some of you have noticed the presence of more and more films from Kazakhstan in many fests around the world. If you have noticed as I have then is no surprise that recently Variety reported that is the healthiest film market in the region.

Anyway this fest run from September 7 to 13 in Astana and here are the award winners.

Grand Prix for Best Film: Farewell, Gulsary!, Ardak Amirkulov, Kazakhstan,
Special Jury Prize: Unknown Route, Temir Birnazarov, Kyrgyzstan, 2008
Prize for Best Director: Adilkhan Yerzhanov for Bakhytzhamal, Kazakhstan, 2007 (short)
Best Lead Actor: Dias Rakhmatov for Small People, Khatam Faiziev, Uzbekistan, 2007 and Balkhytzhan Alpeisov for Together with The Father, Daniyar Salamat, Kazahstan, 2008
Best Lead Actress: Irina Ageikina for Song of Southern Seas, Marat Sarulu, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, France and Russia, 2008
