It is a very smart and beautiful movie to watch with breathtaking views of Bangladesh (actually is India) thanks to luscious cinematography; but generally the story is somber and a little sad but with a happy and promising future ending that comes from basically not wanting to go “home” anymore as home is where you are right now.
Very good performances complement this touching and poignant drama that has many nominations in 2007 and 2008 European fests and awards, including the CICAE Award for Sarah Gavron at the 2007 San Sebastian Film Festival, being nominated for The Carl Foreman Award in the 2008 BAFTA and nominated in the 2008 London Critics Circle Film Awards for British Breakthrough-Filmmaking.
I absolutely recommend this movie that I know it will please those that enjoyed the style of another similar film called Provoked and I’m saying this even when the stories are very different.
Enjoy!!!
